Welcome fall! We just finished our first time at Iowa Assessments and 3rd graders held out very well! Here is what we will be focusing for the month of November. Math: We will begin working with units of measurements, fractions, and discovering probablity. Writer's Workshop: We will continue to work on opinion writing in different story forms. Social Studies 3: We will be learning about communities in history and new settlers who started our lands. Reading: We continue to read different genres, this month being a folktale, realistic fiction, and a biography. Look for your parent letter that comes home weekly. This will let you know a summary of our weekly story and skills we will be working on for the week. Social Studies 2: We have started in our textbooks and are discussing different types of communities, groups and the importance of working together. We will take a break from Unit 1 and focus on a Thanksgiving unit. Religion: We will be learning about how to pray and show forgiveness for one another. We also will be joining 2nd grade for a field trip to visit the Basillica and the Cathedral along with lessons on the Holy Doors.
