The Middle School students have been learning different types of fitness workouts each Wednesday in PE class. They are being shown routines and exercises that they can transfer to a fitness gym or do at home. They recently completed H.I.I.T workouts for beginners. H.I.I.T. stands for High Intensity Interval Training. It is a metabolic conditioning workout where the student should feel physically challenged. For example, we did a 20 min. HIIT workout using 5 different cardio/strength exercises. The student tries to do as many reps as possible during a 45 second interval and then rests for 15 seconds then does the next exercise, rest, and so forth. They did 3 rounds of these 5 exercises this way. Another example would be our pyramid training doing cardio/strength exercises. Example: 10 reps of an exercise, 20 reps of another, 30, 40, 50, 60, 50, 40, 30, 20, and 10.
for our Thursday activities and games we have completed our basketball unit and are moving on to a Floor Hockey unit. We will warm-up on these days jumping rope with short and long rope jumping hopefully improving cardio-respiratory conditioning, agility, balance, and coordination!
Elementary students are finishing up on ball-handling skills using differenttypes of equipment. They have begun their rope jumping lessons and will be doing stick handling for hockey skills and then some tumbling routines and flexibility exercises.
