Merry Christmas,

Thank you for taking time to read my blog during this busy time of the year.

Children who struggle with reading will continue to struggle unless we give them the help and support that they need to be successful.   In the mail you have received your child’s current reading level. Your child’s classroom teacher has written a goal or goals for your child. She has shared ideas with you with things you can do at home. I too have sent home materials that will benefit your child’s growth but they need to come out of the backpack. One of simplest things you can do is to have your son or daughter reread this story several times, twice each night until the next packet comes home on Tuesday.  It will give them the fluency practice that they need and supports what they’re reading in the classroom. Practice will build their confidence. The more confident the more the read!!

How close is your son or daughter in reaching their A.R. goal this trimester?   I will help find appropriate books but they need to ask to that help.

5th grade Math We just finished taking test 11.   Please check with your son or daughter to see how they did. I have started a study group during recess time. If they feel that they need or want extra help I am willing to help them.

Remind your child that learning starts with listening followed by understanding.   We are a community that supports each other.
